Hurlyburly 2001 University of Arkansas

This play presented many challenges for me.  It was the first play I ever directed, so I was quite intimidated.  It was the play by which I'd be invited to stay in the program or not, and it was a large cast, and they'd wanted to do it for several years.  So they all had definite ideas as to how they intended to approach their roles.

I was incredibly fortunate to have wonderful actors who, though they'd been talking about this play for a while, were still willing to listen to my ideas and take direction.  I missed a lot in this play, and will always regret that I didn't do it the justice I thought it deserved, but I'll always be proud of this production as well.
